What kind of information are we looking for? Anything that helps to document unfair practices and policies used by different organizations. Stories of interactions with people that aren't in peoples best interests. You decide. If you have something you wish to share. but have concerns for your personal security or safety, we have a solution. Send us the information you have anonymously! Please understand that because of legal issues we may not be able to do anything with the information provided. As we increase our database of information, building a more complete picture, we may be able to take actions later.
A recent Supreme Court of Canada decision has thrown into question the ability of journalists to protect the identity of sources under some circumstances. RUBC is of the opinion this Court decision can potentially affect us, not necessarily in a good way. It is believed that identifying the source of the information supplied to RUBC will be of interest to, shall we say, opposing forces. These same opposing forces intent on stopping disclosure of information not favourable to them. For this reason we strongly recommend you protect yourself when providing sensitive information. Do this by ensuring we do not know your identity, the "source". What we do not know we cannot be compelled to "squeal" or disclose.
One of the questions in the contact form below asks if you would like us to establish a RUBC user account for you. This account would be created using the Nickname/Alias and Password combination you provide. This will allow you to discuss privately your concerns and provide information to us. All without risking your identity being compromised. Any contact is on your terms and strictly one way. We have no way of contacting you because we have none of your information, not even an email address. The contact form below has been configured to not include any browser information, IP address or ISP information. Again, what we do not know we cannot be compelled to "squeal" or disclose.
Are we being paranoid? The old saying, "You aren't paranoid if they really are out to get you", comes to mind. Better safe than sorry. In any case, what better way to have the opposition discount us than for them to think we are a bunch of paranoid lunatics?
